Function: To accurately fabricate wood beams from shop drawings

Education & Training:


  • Able to read, write, and effectively communicate
  • Carpentry Skills
  • Blueprint reading helpful
Experience:

  • Working in a manufacturing environment is helpful
Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:

  • Math skills to be able to size beams to proper widths
  • Layout from shop drawings and/or sketches
  • Fabricate beams and arches by cutting, routing and drilling to close tolerances
  • Finish beams and arches to customer request with beam seal or stain
  • Wrap product with paper and tape for protection
  • Must be able to read a tape measure
  • Must comply with ALL Safety Rules and Procedures
  • Must follow directions either written or verbal
  • Must be self-starter
  • Must be flexible to cross-train and work in other departments as needed
  • Good attendance
  • Team player


Physical Demands:

  • Regularly lift and/or move up to 40lbs
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 60lbs. with help of a hoist, wheeled cart, or an assistant
  • Push/pull 100bs. with the assistance of hoist, wheeled cart, or assistant
  • On feet standing, walking, pulling, and bending for 8 hours on concrete floor

Production Employee – Sidney Plant

Reports: Supervisor
Function: Varies, Can Include:
-Receive, sort, grade and handle lumber
-Move packs of lumber, pile lumber, unload and load trucks
-Hand grade lumber and sort lumber into proper stacks
-Load scarfer with lumber and get lumber in correct order
-Set-up tunnel for lengths, monitor levels on RF tunnel & adjust machine when necessary
-Set-up and remove steel rods using air wrenches. Handle up to 2’x12’ lumber at various lengths, glued beams up to 100 feet long with the help of co-workers and overhead cranes, and welded flat steel assemblies used to smooth laminated beam plies
-To accurately fabricate laminated wood beams from shop drawings
-To accurately and safely load finished products on trucks for transportation to the jobsite
-Performs equipment and building maintenance as well as janitorial duties when needed
Job Requirements

Education & Training:

· Able to read, write, and effectively communicate

· Good math skills

· Ability to read weight scales

· Some basic computer skills

· Blueprint reading – including knowing how to read ML1A plylist sheets

· BOCES or Trade School Preferred

Experience:


· Working in a manufacturing environment is helpful

· Good manual dexterity

· Ability to keep work area clean

· Ability to work in a wet glue environment

· Carpentry skills

· Ability to follow verbal and written directions

· Ability to be cross-trained to take on new responsibilities

Machine Maintenance

Department: Maintenance
Reports: Supervisor

Function: Performs electrical, mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic maintenance

Job Requirements

Education & Training:

· Trade school, college, seminars, management or military experience in maintenance
Experience:

· 5-7 years experience in electrical, mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic maintenance/operation necessary
Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:

· Ability to service older machinery with multiple relays, timing and sensing circuits

· Knowledge of electrical control circuits and print reading for troubleshooting

· Ability to follow verbal and written directions

· Ability to be cross-trained to take on new responsibilities

· Knowledge or safe and proper use of equipment

· Must be flexible to work in other departments as needed

· Must be a self starter and take initiative

· Must be able to work as part of a team

· Good attendance is required

· Clean NYS driver's license is required, CDL license is preferred
